Orrick is a member of the I-70 Conference, as well as a member of the Missouri State High School Activities Association.
The Orrick Band is made up of 7th – 12th grade students. The marching band performs at all home football games, as well as various marching competitions throughout the fall. The band performs at different home basketball games and performs 3-4 concerts at school each year, and participates in the MSHSAA large ensemble music festival in the spring. Each year several band members are selected to the all-district and all-conference band. Band students also participate in different solo and small ensemble music festivals during the spring.
The Orrick FFA chapter is open to Orrick High School agriculture students. Our members strive to learn public speaking, business, leadership, and agriculture skills that will help to produce lifelong learners. Our members work several community service projects each year as well as provide agriculture awareness to our community. FFA is the largest youth high school youth organization in the world with over 525,000 members. Missouri has over 26,500 members in approximately 330 schools. Orrick has a long tradition of successful FFA members. Our FFA mission statement: 'FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of Students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.'
High School Student Council members attended the Missouri Association of Student Council District meeting at Park Hill South H.S on October 4th.
"We were given new ideas on fundraising, community service projects, and much more. Now, we are excited to take what we have learned and start making positive changes around our school and community."
OHS Drama Club is for students 7-12 grade who are interested in theatre. Each fall we do a Halloween themed play in the basement black box theater. Each spring we do a musical in the high school auditorium. We also have our yearly talent show, Orrick Idol, and a dinner theater performance near end of the year. Whenever possible we make an effort to take advantage of the wide variety of theatrical performances in the Kansas City area. Drama Club is open to any interested students who are willing to devote many hours of their free time to help make our productions the best they can be.
